1. Do you know press brake bending die clamping system?

What are press brake die clamping systems

Clamp is a fast clamping and fixing device for the upper die of bending machine. It is clamped on the slider of the machine, and used to quickly clamp, fix and disassemble the upper die.

The clamp comprises a clamp base and a front pressure plate device. It can adjust the mold to make its force uniform, prevent the slider from being damaged, and can also stably ensure the machining accuracy of the work piece.

The final accuracy of the bending work piece depends on whether there is the best: processing equipment, bending tool system, sheet metal material and press brake operator.

The press brake tooling system includes punch and die, clamping system and compensation system.

The importance of the press brake dies and compensation to the bending accuracy is unquestionable. However, many people in the industry have little knowledge of the quick clamps.

Next, we will talk briefly about clamping system. Learn how it frees up labor and makes bending more accurate and efficient!

Before bending, sheet metal parts may have gone through multiple production processes, such as stamping, cutting and deburring. This requires the bending process to ensure strict accuracy and accuracy consistency. So as to reduce the production of waste materials and reduce costs.

Everyone knows that a good bending equipment must meet these requirements, but the importance of a good clamp system is often overlooked.

A good bending die clamp can not only save time, but also ensure accuracy and reduce the number of bending tests. What are the die clamping systems in the market?

2. Classification: Two Types of Press Brake Die Clamping Systems

There are two kinds of clamping systems for press brake bending die: manual clamping and automatic clamping. Each clamp system has a different version on the market.

1) Manual clamping

Manual clamping is an effective, economical and bending machine fixture for infrequently changing molds.

Manual clamping is the most basic and time-consuming die clamping method. This requires the machine operator to manually lock each clamp.

Independent clamping plates cannot automatically form a complete clamping line when locked one by one. Therefore, the clamping force of each die section is uneven. The mold cannot be aligned immediately, which requires time-consuming adjusting and relies on experienced operators.

2) Automatic clamping

Automatic clamping is suitable for bending machine fixtures that frequently and quickly change molds.

Based on the concept of "single-point operation", the automatic clamps can realize the process of mold clamping and unclamping with only one button. Eliminate the tedious manual locking experience.

The power sources of the automatic clamping system are electric, hydraulic and pneumatic. The most basic automatic clamping system consists of many segmented independent clamping plates and power cylinders. The power cylinder is driven by the above-mentioned power source.

Although it avoids the time-consuming manual locking method, the positioning accuracy problems of the mold still exists because the clamping plate is still segmented and independent.

How to avoid activating only a single clamping plate to clamp the mold separately? The inaccuracy of this approach can be achieved by using a medium to drive a mechanism over the full length of the CNC press brake to clamp the mold as a whole.

3. Main Difference: Manual vs. Automatic Clamping

The manual quick clamp is more suitable for applications where there are few mold changes. The hardened bending die clamping mechanism can make the mold of each section correctly positioned, aligned and clamped, thus ensuring the bending accuracy.

If the die needs to be replaced frequently, the automatic clamping system is recommended. It has the following characteristics:

Types of Press Brake Die Clamping Systems

1) High efficiency

If each shift has more than one press brake die change, automatic die change can improve the bending efficiency and increase the profit margin.

2) Ergonomic compliance

The operation safety of the bending machine is guaranteed to avoid industrial injury.

3) Free labor

It is easy to use and operate. The technical requirements for bending workers are reduced. It also reduces the dependence of enterprises on skilled workers.

If you pay more attention to sustainable development, pneumatic automatic bending die clamping system is recommended. The pneumatic clamping with self-locking function can be clamped without keeping running all the time. Help reduce the use of hydraulic oil and reduce energy consumption.

Now all kinds of machine tools used in processing are becoming more and more efficient and accurate. At the same time, the fixture used by each kind of machining machine tool determines the quality of the products they process.

Before using the bending machine, please carefully check whether the quick die clamping of the press brake is reliable. Only in this way can the accuracy, speed, consistency and safety of processing be guaranteed.
